Frequently asked questions

What patients want to know before scheduling

Are you an oral surgeon?

Harbour Dental Care is a general dental practice. Our dentists have advanced training and can perform many surgical dental procedures in-office. Some complex cases are best managed by a board-certified oral and maxillofacial surgeon or another specialist; when that is the safest option, we will explain the recommendation and help coordinate care.

How soon can I be seen?

Availability changes, but the St. Johns office may be able to see oral-surgery patients within the same week. Call us when pain, swelling or another urgent symptom is present so the team can help identify the most appropriate appointment.

Will treatment happen at the first visit?

Sometimes. Same-day treatment depends on the diagnosis, procedure, time available, your health history, required imaging and any preparation needed for sedation. The first priority is a safe, accurate evaluation.

Do you remove wisdom teeth?

We evaluate wisdom teeth and treat cases that are appropriate for our in-office scope. Deep impactions, proximity to important nerves, significant medical considerations or other complexities may require referral to an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.

Do you offer sedation?

Sedation and other comfort options may be available depending on the provider, procedure and your medical history. Your dentist will discuss appropriate options after evaluating you.

Do you accept insurance or offer financing?

The office accepts many PPO dental plans and can help you understand available benefits. Financing options may also be available for qualified patients. Harbour Dental Care is not a Medicaid or HMO provider.

What should I bring to my appointment?

Bring a photo ID, insurance information, a current medication list, relevant referral paperwork and any recent X-rays or imaging available from another office. Providing these in advance may help us prepare for your visit.
